15.808 -- U.S. Geological Survey Research and Data Collection
The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner with expertise in prediction and assessment of post-wildfire impacts (e.g., changes in water quality and quantity, sedimentation, and debris flows) and recovery (e.g., the attenuation of hazards as vegetation and land cover attain pre-wildfire states). This research will advance our understanding of and predictive capabilities related to hydrologic burn severity and post-fire recovery, and provide critical information for land and resource managers and emergency responders tasked with preparing for and responding to wildfire crises.
This financial assistance opportunity is being issued under a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program. CESU’s are partnerships that provide research, technical assistance, and education. Eligible recipients must be a participating partner of the Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program.
