    Description

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) , intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications to support exceptional dual degree dentist scientists in completing the final years of their postdoctoral research training and transitioning to a role as an independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty position. This program will provide support for two years of mentored training (K99) and three to five years of independent research (R00) to improve dental, oral and craniofacial health. An option for five years of independent (R00) support is available to accommodate clinical training in a dental specialty program at no more than 3 person-months effort (25% full-time professional effort) in any year of the R00 phase.Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO will utilize the K99/R00 activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights in dental, oral, and craniofacial health holding dual degrees (e.g., DMD/DDS + PhD) are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this NOFO.
