      93.067 -- Global AIDS

93.318 -- Protecting and Improving Health Globally: Building and Strengthening Public Health Impact, Systems, Capacity and Security

    Description

The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $5,500,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds. This NOFO seeks to engage a regional or international institution to partner with the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini to strengthen national surveillance, research, laboratory, and emergency preparedness and response systems and structures to monitor and inform a sustainable response to HIV, TB, and other emerging public health threats. Activities are focused on strengthening the national capacity of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other relevant government entities to oversee, conduct, and advance public health surveillance, health research capacity, and population-based surveys while expanding local epidemiologic capacities in the areas of outbreak detection, investigation, response and recovery, epidemic modeling, data analytics and visualization. As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national laboratory systems, priority activities will tackle structural barriers, support the development of strategic plans and guidelines to improve the diagnostic network and laboratory services for HIV/TB and other diseases, and support strides towards a local laboratory accreditation scheme. Eswatini’s public health preparedness and response systems and structures will be reinforced with activities that assist MoH in its efforts to strengthen the Eswatini CDC (National Public Health Institute) pillars, which include early warning surveillance, national public health laboratory, public health workforce, emergency operations center and health/risk communication.
