15.148 -- Tribal Energy Development Capacity Grants
The Tribal Energy Development Capacity (TEDC) grant program seeks to develop theTribal management, organizational and technical capacity needed to maximize the economicimpactofenergyresourcedevelopmenton Federally recognized tribal land.TEDCgrants equip Federally recognized tribal entities to regulate and manage their energy resources through development oforganizational and businessstructures and legaland regulatoryinfrastructure.Examples of projects TEDC grants may fund include establishment of Tribal businesscharters under Federal, state, or Tribal law with a focus on energy resource development;adoptionand/orimplementationofasecuredtransactions code;feasibilitystudies onformingaTribal utility authority; feasibility studies on emergency response during heat and cold waves; and development of Tribal energy regulations pursuant to the HelpingExpediteandAdvanceResponsible Tribal Home Ownership Actof 2012(HEARTH Act)25 U.S.C.§ 415.
