93.928 -- Special Projects of National Significance

    Description

The proposed initiative will use an implementation science approach to adapt behavioral health evidence-based interventions for people with co-occurring HIV and mental health conditions with needs that have not been well met by traditional approaches. This project prioritizes the needs of people with co-occurring HIV and mental health conditions who are out of care or experiencing serious barriers to staying in care. In addition, this project aligns with the HIV/AIDS Bureau’s new Quality of Life (QoL) Framework , presenting as an exciting opportunity to test the framework in the context of evidence-based interventions aimed at improving physical, emotional, and social QOL.The proposed initiative is comprised of one Implementation and Technical Assistance Provider (ITAP), up to ten implementation sites—subcontracted by the ITAP, and one Evaluation Provider (EP)—funded as a separate project proposal. The funded ITAP will lead a collaborative effort with the concurrently funded EP to identify behavioral health evidence-based interventions to be adapted and implemented by the implementation sites. The ITAP will be responsible for subcontracting with and providing implementation-specific technical assistance for the implementation sites. The ITAP will also lead the development and implementation of a communications and dissemination plan for the initiative. The ITAP and subcontracted implementation sites will work collaboratively with the funded EP that will lead a multi-site evaluation of the project and comprehensive dissemination of best practices.
