15.808 -- U.S. Geological Survey Research and Data Collection

    Description

The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for work investigating methods for floodplain vegetation status and trends monitoring. Floodplain forests and herbaceous communities make up the majority of the natural land cover of the Upper Mississippi and Illinois River floodplains. Currently, vegetation ecologists and managers utilize a number of data sets to track the status and trends of plant communities along the UMRS. This research is to seek a more comprehensive and efficient way to monitor the status and trends in floodplain vegetation communities across the UMRS and over the long-term.
